Last weekend we had a Poet’s Weekend here in Beechworth, where poets from all over Victoria came and recited poetry in pubs, cafes and other public places. What a great concept! I don’t know much about poetry but I think this is a great idea. We even had poets recite their work at our Beechworth Bakery. (more…)
While in Timor baking with me, my mate Graham Heaven from New Zealand lost his gold signet ring. He’d been wearing it for more than 40 years. He’s not sure whether it went into the bread or the muffins, but it’s gone. (more…)

I have just booked my flights to Uganda. I’m flying out in early April with my baker mates Graham and Ralph. We’ve been asked to set up a bakery at the community hospital in Kumi. The idea is that they make money for the orphanage and create new jobs. (more…)
My wife Christine and I went to see the movie “The Descendants” with George Clooney. We really enjoyed it, and there were a few good messages in it. The biggest one for me was that you’ve got to keep working on your marriage. Being happily married is one hell of a job. Lots of work. You’ve got to keep the romance alive. (more…)
